Media Advisory: The SAHRC’s Mpumalanga Office embarks on a provincial human rights awareness campaign

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (SAHRC/the Commission) Mpumalanga Provincial Office (MPO) will launch a provincial human rights awareness campaign from 03 to 09 February 2025.

The purpose of this campaign is to implement its promotion, protection and monitoring mandates through increasing awareness about the SAHRC’s role and mandate as well as human rights as enshrined in the constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (the constitution).

To fulfil its constitutional mandate, the Commission shall be monitoring the observance of human rights in different public institutions through site inspections, recording of complaints and enquiries as part of its protection mandate. Additionally, the MPO will conduct information sessions to share information on human rights and the Commission’s constitutional role, in line with its promotion mandate. Areas to be visited are:
