Media Advisory: The Gauteng Provincial Office will conduct a human rights awareness and capacity-building outreach in Devon, Sedibeng District Municipality

Attention: Editors and Reporters
Wednesday, 13 November 2024

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (SAHRC/the Commission) Gauteng Provincial Office (GPO) will conduct a human rights awareness workshop in the Devon area, together with the UP UP UP Youth Project.

The UP UP UP Youth Project is an organisation dedicated to the upliftment of the youth and raising human rights awareness, as well as opportunities available to the youth. The purpose of the capacity-building workshop is to raise awareness of the mandate of the Commission and capacitate the youth on their rights and the responsibilities closely tied to these rights. The capacity-building workshops empower community-based organisations with tools to identify human rights violations in their communities, report and refer violations to the Commission, and assist the Commission in conducting various monitoring initiatives in the community.

The details of the workshop are as follows:

  • Date  : Thursday, 14 November 2024
  • Time  : 10h00am–13h00
  • Venue: Impumelelo Community Hall in Davon, Gauteng Province.
