Media Invite: The SAHRC’s Mpumalanga Provincial Office to conduct community outreach engagement to promote human rights

Attention: Editors and Reporters
Thursday, 24 October 2024

The South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission) will be conducting a community outreach in the form of an information session at the Kruger National Park, on the role and mandate of the Commission. The activity will also serve to promote human rights enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996.  It further endeavours to empower surrounding communities to assert their rights and hold relevant authorities to account in addressing poor service delivery, crime and other social ills in society.

These are enormous obstacles to the realisation of fundamental human rights and undermine the functioning and legitimacy of state institutions and the rule of law. Community outreach engagements serve as a tool to broaden public participation, and enhancement of the visibility of the Commission.

The information session is scheduled to take place as follows:

  • Date   : Thursday, 24 October 2024
  • Venue: Pretorius Skop Hall, Kruger National Park
  • Time  : 10h00am - 15h00
