These initiatives are in response to complaints received regarding potential human rights violations in these areas. As part of its mandate, the ECPO will undertake monitoring efforts to gather further information for assessment. Legal interventions will also be carried out to address and provide redress for identified human rights violations. Additionally, the ECPO will host a community outreach workshop focusing on challenges related to farm evictions.
These initiatives are being carried out in accordance with Section 184 of the South African Constitution, which mandates the Commission to promote, protect, monitor, and assess human rights throughout the Republic.
