Media Advisory: SAHRC Limpopo Provincial Office conducts a subpoena hearing against Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality and continues with its inquiry on Mining Activities in Limpopo Province.

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (SAHRC) Limpopo Provincial Office (LPO) is conducting a subpoena hearing against Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality (Municipality) and it will continue with its hearing on mining activities in Limpopo today from 10h00. 

The subpoena inquiry is due to the municipality’s failure to appear before an inquiry held from the 25th to the 27th of June 2024. The municipality failed to attend the inquiry and submit information requested by the SAHRC.

The SAHRC previously considered reasons advanced by the municipality for failing to appear before it, however, the municipality failed for the second time to appear before the Commission.

The hearing will take place as follows:
