Media Invite: SAHRC Mpumalanga Provincial Office to conduct a Social Harmony National Effort Community Outreach

Attention: Editors and Reporters

30 July 2024

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (“the Commission”) Mpumalanga Provincial Office will be conducting information sessions on the Social Harmony National Effort (SHiNE).

SHiNE is a project of the Commission that is aimed at promoting social cohesion, harmony, tolerance and respect for human rights across South Africa. The sessions are aimed at improving human relations and interactions across every spectrum in the society and to strengthen the Commission’s efforts of ensuring the promotion and protection of human rights enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996.

The information sessions will be held under the theme: “The Role of Families in Society.” Family dynamics and values have a lot of influence on human attitudes and behaviours that serve as the first line of socialisations. Considering the high levels of violence and social ills across many spheres of life, SHiNE is hoped to create a platform for positive engagement amongst all members of society including men, women and children.

The information sessions are targeting family members, and are scheduled to take place as follows:
