MEDIA ADVISORY: The North West Provincial office to conduct a subpoena hearing and a subsequent stakeholder engagement with the Municipal Manager of Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality

The North West Provincial Office will conduct a subpoena hearing in respect of the Municipal Manager and Mayor of Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality (NMMDM). The subpoena hearing relates to a long-standing complaint relating to access to basic services by the residents of Straatsdrift Farm. The Municipal Manager of NMMDM was previously subpoenaed to appear before the Commission on the same matter on 20 September 2023, during which he made certain undertakings, some of which have not been honoured.

Following the subpoena hearing, the North West Provincial Office will engage NMMDM on other issues related to service delivery within the Municipality that are not the subject of the subpoena hearing. The engagement aims to improve service delivery by fostering collaborative discussions and strategic planning. Ultimately, the goal of the engagement is to find sustainable solutions to the current service delivery challenges in the Municipality.

The subpoena proceedings and engagement are scheduled as follows:
